【摘要】:Theuseofthispracticefortheemergencyjoiningofboomswillnotguaranteetheeffectiveperformanceofthejoinedboomsections,sinceeachboomdesignandtheenvironmentalconditionsofeachincidentgoverntheoverallperformance.Historically,differenttypesofendconnectorshavebeenproduced.Thispracticeaddressestheoperationalneedtoconnectdifferenttypes,duringspillincidents.(Warningx2014;Useofthispracticewithsimilarordifferentsizesofboommaycausethetransmissionofunwantedloadingsuchas,tensionloadingandbendingmomentsoncertainboompartsresultinginpossibleprematurefailureofthecontainmentsystem.)Thereareawiderangeofboomconnectorconfigurationspresentlyinuse.Theseconnectorswerebaseduponsomeorallofthefollowingdesigncriteria:3.3.1Connectandtransfertensileloadsbetweenboomsections,3.3.2Minimizeoilleakagebetweenboomsections,3.3.3Beeasilyconnectableinthepresenceofdirt,oilorice,oracombinationthereof,3.3.4Bequicklyandeasilyconnectedanddisconnected,inandoutofthewater,3.3.5Maintainboomperformance(freeboard,heaveresponse,conformance,stability,andsoforth),3.3.6Beunaffectedbytemperatureextremes,3.3.7Havenoprotrudingpartsthatcouldsnag,injure,orpuncture,3.3.8Belightweightandbuoyant,3.3.9Beoperativelysymmetrical,3.3.10Requirenospecialtoolsforinstallationorremoval,3.3.11Requirenoloosepartsforconnection,3.3.12Extendtothefullheightanddraftoftheboom,3.3.13Resistdistortion(thatis,windingboomonareel),and3.3.14Beinherentlysafetopersonnel.1.1Thispracticeprovidesastandardpracticeforthejoiningofoilspillcontainmentboomconnectorsinemergencies.1.2Theuseofthisconnectionmethodmayadverselyaffectthetotaltensilestrengthoftheconnectedbooms.1.3Thesecriteriaareintendedtodefinematingrequirementsthatwillallowtheemergencyoroccasionalconnectionofunlikeconnectors.1.4ThispracticeisnotintendedtoreplaceSpecificationF962.1.5Thispracticedoesnotaddressthecompatibilityofspillcontrolequipmentwithspillproducts.Itistheuser''sresponsibilitytoensurethatanyequipmentselectediscompatiblewiththeanticipatedspilledmaterial.1.6Thereisnoguaranteethatalloftheconnectorsinusetodaycanaccepttheholesspacedasrequiredwithoutinterferingwithexistingboltholesorotherconnectorfeatures.1.7ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.8Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Foraspecificprecautionarystatement,see3.2.
